Kayla Krueger
Education Program Manager

With a biologist father and a teacher mother, it’s no surprise that Kayla found herself in environmental education. Hunting and fishing provided the space for her to explore her curiosity of all things natural. Kayla attended Texas A&M University where she studied Wildlife and Fisheries Science. Her degree emphasis of fisheries ecology took her to the mangrove estuaries of Utila, Honduras. Kayla’s experiences through her studies of the mangroves and outreach to the local people shifted her path from curious scientist to enthusiastic educator.

After college, Kayla worked as a conservation educator for Texas Wildlife Association serving the schools and communities of South Houston and the surrounding counties. She later acquired her teaching certification and taught 7th and 8th grade science for 6 years. While teaching in Fredericksburg, Kayla was introduced to the ranch through volunteering with the Texas Youth Hunting Program. She came back from that first trip inspired and in love (as most people do.) Kayla was working for San Antonio Parks and Recreation as an education coordinator when she received a call that a position opened up at Bamberger Ranch. It was a “no-brainer.” She applied for the position immediately.

Kayla manages the education programs at the ranch. Coordinating school trips and creating curriculum are her core responsibilities; she also assists with ranch tours and workshops and manages the ranch’s social media pages.
