Growing up on a cattle ranch in Central Texas, Drew developed a passion for land stewardship and studying native wildlife. He holds a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Texas State University and a M.S. in biology from Sam Houston State University.
While earning these degrees, Drew became fascinated with the methods and field techniques used in wildlife research. He has worked with various species of animals, including his thesis work studying beavers in East Texas.
Drew’s first visit to Bamberger Ranch Preserve was in 2019 when he joined the team for a seasonal internship immediately after graduating from Texas State. That internship experience helped him to grow as a naturalist and further prepare him for a career in natural resources. After his internship, he left to pursue his M.S. and then worked as a biologist for the Texas Military Department managing wildlife on military lands.
Drew joined the staff full time in 2023 as Research Coordinator. His role at BRP is to facilitate and conduct research activities on the ranch and grow partnerships with organizations, universities, and other researchers interested in working with BRP. In addition to this, he assists with both the education program and management activities.
Shortly after returning to BRP as a full-time employee, Drew welcomed a baby boy. Drew now lives on the ranch with his wife and son.
